Training Workshops for Parents : First Aid


Training Overview:


Aim

To provide parents/carers with the confidence and knowledge to implement basic life support procedures until a professional can take over.

Overview
Topics include:
  • Assessing an emergency situation
  • Resuscitation (children and adults)
  • Care of an unconscious patient
  • Dealing with choking
  • Treatment of bleeding
  • Treatment of burns
Group work and practical exercises will give participants the opportunity to discuss specific situations and try practical skills.

Duration

2 sessions of two hours each. These are run on the same day with a break for lunch.

Training Method

Interactive training workshop for up to 12 participants.

Handouts will be provided which will summarize the basic points.

Each participant will also receive a Red Cross first aider certificate and training evaluation questionnaire.

Please note - participants should be made aware that they will be required to take part in practical demonstrations and should dress suitably (e.g. They may wish to wear trousers).
